Wel:Dun Congregation
We are a fun and friendly family-orientated congregation, meeting in WELton and DUNholme, hence our name. For us church is the people, not a building or service style. Everyone is welcome whether exploring church for the first time or looking for a deeper level of fellowship and service. Whatever you are looking for you will find a warm welcome in Wel:Dun.
Sundays On Sunday mornings we meet for Bible-based teaching, and worship. We love variety so some services are for the whole family and others incorporate informal forms of worship and teaching. We encourage active participation in services, with many members of the church family taking part. During some of our services, primary school aged children go out for their own activities as do the young people. See TK’s and Wel:Dun Youth pages for more details.
We enjoy socializing together, getting together with other friends for Autumnal walks, having barbeques etc. As we spend time together both in worship and social situations we find that we love living life together and have seen each other through the ups and downs in life.
Formation Groups Members of the congregation are encouraged to be part of a Formation group, a group of four people who meet to pray and support one another for an hour on a weekly basis. These are the foundation for all our other activities as they encourage each of us as individuals but also are the prayerful backing of our interest groups.
Interest Groups
What hobbies or interests would you like to have more time to pursue? This is the question we asked of the WelDun congregation. As a result a Book Group, two walking groups, a “Fusion” cooking group, a “Wings and Wheels” group, a monthly Open Mic night and a Pub Quiz team have been launched. We are getting to know lots of people in our communities and are having a great time in the process. See Interest Groups page for details.
We also run Alpha, Freedom In Christ and discipleship courses in order to support those who are questioning their beliefs, or wanting to deepen their faith.
As a congregation we are open to and thoroughly enjoy working across the denominations and community. We regularly support community events whenever and wherever we can.
